From September 15 – 18, 2022, the Nation of Islam hosted the M.G.T. & G.C.C. Vanguard Retreat! It was the first M.G.T. Vanguard Retreat in 11 years!
“The Vanguard means you are the forward group in the protection, the security, the defense of the older women, and an example for the younger girls in the Junior M.G.T. class. How would you induct her? You would induct her first into the M.G.T., then into the Vanguard class because that is her age.”

The M.G.T. and G.C.C. Vanguard are inducted into the Class by learning the seven training units as their foundation, and as the warrior class, they are trained in specialized functions such as close order drill, martial arts, and security.
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, the retreat was concluded with a Sunday address at Mosque Maryam in Chicago, Illinois. Five M.G.T. & G.C.C. Vanguard spoke and the address was keynoted by Sister Nneka Muhammad on behalf of the Student National M.G.T. & G.C.C. Captain Naeemah Muhammad. The program was entitled “The Divinity of the Female” and it was a special tribute to Sister Student Minister Ava Muhammad (may Allah (God) be pleased with her).
